The Rhodes Global Scholarship 2023: Until recently, Rhodes Scholarships were only awarded in 20 constituencies (representing more than 60 countries).

But now, Rhodes Scholarships are now entirely global: two new Global Scholarships are available to qualified students from the rest of the globe (subject to nomination).

The Rhodes Global Scholarship Program seeks excellent young leaders who are eager to tackle global challenges and promote worldwide understanding and peace.

Students who are not from existing Rhodes constituencies

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:

A Rhodes Scholarship covers all University and College fees, a living stipend (£18,180 per annum 2022-23); settling allowance, health insurance, visa, and two economy class flights – to and from the UK – for the beginning and end of studies in Oxford.

The basic tenure of the scholarship is two years, subject always, and at all times, to satisfactory academic performance and personal conduct.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Rhodes Scholarship, you need to be under the categories below;

1. Nationality/citizenship:

You may only apply to the Global Scholarships if you are not eligible to apply via any existing Rhodes constituency.

If you have a strong connection to one or more Rhodes constituencies but do not match their eligibility standards, consider inter-jurisdictional consideration instead of the Global Scholarship.

2. Age:

You must meet either of the below criteria:

i. You must be aged 18-23 on 1st October 2023 (i.e. you must have been born after 1 October 1999 and before 2 October 2005).

OR (for older candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual)

ii. You must be under the age of 27 on 1st October 2023 (i.e. have been born after 1 October 1996) AND you must also have completed your first undergraduate degree on or after 1 October 2022

3. Academic achievement:

You must have finished or will complete by July 2024, an undergraduate degree (often a Bachelor’s degree) with an academic background and grade that meets or exceeds the specific entry requirements of your selected full-time course at the University of Oxford.

Given the extremely competitive worldwide competition for spaces at the University of Oxford, candidates with a First Class Honours Degree or equivalent, or a GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher, will have a better chance of being admitted.

4. English language: 

You must have a sufficiently high standard of English to meet the English language proficiency requirements (at the Higher Level listed) of the University of Oxford.

4. If unsuccessful in your first application to the Rhodes Scholarships, you may subsequently re-apply only once more (and this must be in the same constituency), subject to meeting the eligibility criteria

Application Criteria:

Before applying for your proposed course at the University of Oxford, you should apply for the Rhodes Scholarship.

Candidates chosen for the Global Rhodes Scholarship must subsequently apply for their preferred program through the University of Oxford’s graduate application form, with assistance from the Rhodes House team.

There is no application fee for submitting the Rhodes Scholarship application form; however, you must submit your application online and no other type of application will be accepted.

How to Apply:

To apply for the Global Rhodes Scholarship, you must complete and submit our online application form by 23:59 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), 1 August 2023.
