What is SCITT?

SCITT programs are instructor seminars done by local schools that allow degree holders to obtain realistic teacher education and retraining on the job.

Some of these programs offer interns the opportunity to earn a PGCE (or Masters-level credits towards an Education qualification).

You’ll have a wide array of mentors, instructors, and colleagues to help you determine your ground and make it through each college you operate at.

What are the Entry Requirements for a SCITT Course?

SCITT entrance requirements are roughly comparable to those for PGCEs. A 2:2 Bachelor’s degree in the area of study you want to teach is generally required.

If you did study a course at the college level that was not directly linked to your intended teaching specialization, you could be capable of completing a subject knowledge enhancement (SKE) training to increase your acquaintance with the field of study.

What’s the Difference Between SCITT and University-led Teacher Training?

When you choose the university-led path, you will be rooted at a university instead of a group of schools. But instead of starting at a school instantly, you’ll study teaching theory at university before applying what you’ve gained in at least two school postings over the session of at least 24 weeks.

In parallel, school-led teacher education puts you in a classroom right away. You won’t be thrown in at the deep finish, so don’t be concerned with having to teach classes on your first day.

Rather, you’ll gain from a more hands-on style of teaching, engrossed from the start in the daily life of a school setting.

What is the Application Process?

SCITT providers typically require candidates to undertake technical skill assessments in math and reading prior to their interview or as part of the terms of their deal. You must pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, formerly known as a CRB check.

SCITT applications are, however, processed through the UCAS Teacher Training portal.

You’ll have to make a personal declaration and provide contact details for two referees after you’ve found your SCITT course and registered with UCAS.

You must also include details about your education experience and any employment history you have, particularly if it illustrates your attention in dealing with kids.
